MADRID (AP) — World steeplechase champion Marta Dominguez denies using or trafficking performance-enhancing drugs to other athletes after being implicated in a Spanish investigation.

Dominguez was among 14 people detained in December’s “Operation Galgo,” a Spanish investigation into doping in Spanish athletics. She is accused of supplying drugs to other athletes.

The 35-year-old Dominguez, speaking publicly for the first time, says in the interview on Veo7 TV it was “impossible” to cheat since athletes need to give their whereabouts 365 days a year.

Galgo, meaning “greyhound” in Spanish, is the third recent Civil Guard investigation into doping in sports after last year’s Operation Grial.
