Boston University holds off Binghamton 71-66

BOSTON (AP) — John Holland scored six of his 16 points on free throws during Boston University’s game-winning run in a 71-66 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday night.

The Terriers (10-12, 5-3 America East Conference) trailed 62-56 with 7:03 to play, and Matt Griffin’s 3 sparked an 11-0 run. The Terriers went 8 for 8 from the free-throw line during the spurt, including Holland’s six. Holland finished shooting 9 of 10 from the line.

The Bearcats brought it to 67-66 on Jimmy Gray’s layup with 33 seconds left, but Boston U. went 4 of 4 from the line the rest of the way to seal it.

The Terriers shot 76 percent from the free-throw line (19 of 25), including 15 of 17 in the second half (88.2 percent) to overcome 37.3-percent shooting from the field (22 of 59).

Darryl Partin added 20 points for the Terriers.

Mahamoud Jabbi had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Bearcats (6-15, 3-5).
