DALLAS (AP) — Peja Stojakovic isn’t quite ready to join the Dallas Mavericks’ rotation.

Stojakovic has been practicing with his new teammates and has been shooting after practice with Dirk Nowitzki. But coach Rick Carlisle said before Dallas’ game Thursday night against Houston that Stojakovic still needs time to round into basketball shape.

Stojakovic hasn’t played since November for the Toronto Raptors. The 12-year veteran averaged 8.1 points in eight games this season for New Orleans and Toronto. He missed 26 games for the Raptors because of a swollen left knee before he was waived. He signed with Dallas on Monday.

Carlisle said Stojakovic wouldn’t be activated for the Houston game or Saturday night against Atlanta.
