Pick your favorite plan for Chinook Park

NORTH SALMON CREEK — There are two proposed plans for developing Chinook Neighborhood Park: a “rounded” approach and a “river” approach. The former is a generally traditional playground and park, with a walkway that steers away from nearby homes, a picnic area, a greenway viewing area and both irrigated and unirrigated lawns — in addition to a small paved labyrinth. The latter emphasizes the natural features of the area and minimizes development, with a paved walkway, a soft-surface walking trail on the south side, a small nature-play area with logs and boulders, a small “sand play feature” and native landscaping. The Greater Clark Parks District held public meetings in December and January and now has posted the two plans, and a survey form, online at http://www.clarkparks.org/projects/chinook.htm. Survey responses are due by Feb. 9; development on the 6-acre park is expected to begin in spring 2012.
