VANCOUVER — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded four grants worth a total of $598,483 this month to the Vancouver Housing Authority, Steven Towell, community relations program manager for VHA, said Thursday.

One grant will help house 30 homeless veterans by using Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers.

The other grants will assist residents of Skyline Crest, a low-rent public housing development in McLoughlin Heights, and help Section 8 housing voucher recipients become self-sufficient, Towell said.

The homeless veterans will be housed at VHA’s Central Park Place.

The 30 vouchers are renewed annually, he said.
