SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners will recall right-hander Blake Beavan from Triple-A Tacoma to start Sunday’s series finale against San Diego.

The Mariners announced their plans on Saturday, but will wait on making Beavan’s call-up — and the corresponding roster move — official until Sunday.

Beavan is 5-3 with a 4.46 ERA in 16 starts for the Rainiers this season. He’ll be taking the spot in Seattle’s rotation of Erik Bedard, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a sprained left knee.

Beavan will be making his major league debut. He was acquired by Seattle as part of the deal that sent Cliff Lee to Texas last July.
