BOCHUM, Germany (AP) — Equatorial Guinea defender Bruna was not penalized after grabbing a ball coming off her post, holding it with both hands and then dropping it, in the crucial Women’s World Cup game against Australia on Sunday.

Australia’s Leena Khamis, who scored the first goal, pounced at the near post in the 16th minute and sent the ball past goalkeeper Miriam and to the near post.

Bruna handled the ball as it bounced back. Hungarian referee Gyoengyi Gaal took no action and was chased by several dumbfounded Australian players.

The score was 1-1 at halftime.
