Letter: Stadium is positive revenue impact

I feel that people in Southwest Washington have almost no choice but to take our money across the border into Oregon for most entertainment. To me, the amphitheater is one of the best things to happen to Vancouver in the past 10 years. It has made this city/county a destination again — for locals and Portlanders alike. Esther Short Park’s overhaul has helped, along with some new venues such “living room” theaters and the motocross tracks.

Bringing a baseball team to Vancouver (and a new stadium) will not only help keep some of our money local, it will also bring even more revenue over the bridges. I know the money that goes into the pockets of the owners will not be local, but it will be for the hotels, gas stations, convenience stores and restaurants. To me this seems like a no-brainer.

I know there are opponents to this plan which includes parking and traffic logistics near the stadium, along with a new tax. We have some smart people who can figure out logistics, and the tax is optional (some might say a luxury tax even).

Seems like those are small hurdles when you consider the revenue impact and increased reputation for our community.
