ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Detroit manager Jim Leyland has been ejected before the seventh inning of the Tigers’ game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Leyland was ejected during a prolonged argument with first-base umpire Joe West, although their subject was unclear.

During the sixth inning, Detroit ace Justin Verlander briefly exchanged words with the umpiring crew, although the source of that conflict also was unclear. Verlander could be seen clapping in the dugout while Leyland argued.

Los Angeles led Detroit 1-0 midway through the seventh inning.
