A Portland man was arrested this evening in the Carter Park neighborhood after he allegedly dumped a car that was stolen in Portland.

The incident happened about 7:30. His name and age were not immediately available.

Portland police officers chased the vehicle, a 1995 Honda Accord, across the Interstate 5 Bridge, said Sgt. Kathy McNicholas with Vancouver police. The driver eluded them.

She said the man then “dumped” the car at 32nd and G streets and walked away. A neighbor called 911 reporting a suspicious subject, McNicholas said.

About six Vancouver officers and a police dog combed the area between Main and 33rd streets and Interstate 5 and Fourth Plain Boulevard.

The man was arrested at 7:38 p.m. near 32nd and Columbia streets on outstanding warrants and possession of a stolen vehicle, McNicholas said.
