MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — Two people in a car were killed in a collision with a truck just before midnight Wednesday on Highway 18 near the I-90 interchange near Snoqualmie.

The Washington State Patrol says the crash killed a 65-year-old Snoqualmie man and a 47-year-old Enumclaw woman.

Trooper Julie Startup told KING-TV the car was making a U-turn on the highway when it was hit by the semi-truck. The car driver had stopped to help a disabled pickup truck and had picked up the woman passenger.

The semi-truck driver was not injured. He told KIRO-TV he didn’t have time to stop.
