STANWOOD, Wash. (AP) — A Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman says a body recovered in Lake Howard is believed to be that of a missing Stanwood-area woman.

Spokeswoman Rebecca Hover says 53-year-old Shannon Ross was last heard from June 30. Her family and investigators had been looking for her in the area.

The spokeswoman says there were no signs of foul play either at the lake or Ross’ home. Detectives think the woman may have been swimming in the lake.

The Snohomish County medical examiner’s office will confirm the identity of the body found Friday and determine the cause and manner of death.
