BASTAD, Sweden (AP) — Polona Hercog of Slovenia defeated Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in the semifinals of the Swedish Open.
The win on Friday moves Hercog into the final against Johanna Larsson, who beat fellow Swede Sofia Arvidsson 6-3, 6-1 earlier.
The eighth-seeded Hercog had four match points before closing out the match that was delayed because of rain at the WTA clay-court event.
Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki retired in the second round because of a shoulder injury.
