ST. LOUIS (AP) — Arizona Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz is on track to return from the 15-day disabled list after the All-Star break.

Putz threw in the bullpen Friday and manager Kirk Gibson said the right-hander would have another bullpen session on Sunday.

Putz was placed on the disabled list July 1 with tendinitis in his right elbow, retroactive to June 29. He is 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA and 21 saves in 25 chances in his first year with the Diamondbacks.

Replacement closer David Hernandez was 4 for 4 in save chances since Putz got hurt.
