SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Water rescue teams searching the Spokane River feared that a boy had drowned after his inner tube flipped.

KXLY reports the search ended Thursday night when friends of the boy who were watching the news called police to report that he had made it home safely with his father.

About 30 searchers — including a boat, two kayaks and a police helicopter — spent hours looking for the boy in Spokane Valley after receiving a 911 call that a teen had disappeared in the water. He was not wearing a life jacket.
