PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies have placed All-Star center fielder Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list because of a thumb injury.

Victorino sprained a ligament in his right thumb in a game last weekend at Toronto. He’s hitting .303 with nine homers, 34 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. The move was made Friday before the NL East-leading Phillies opened a three-game series against second-place Atlanta. The move is retroactive to July 4.

Pete Orr was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to replace Victorino. He hit .230 in 26 games with the Phillies earlier this season.
