June homebuilding permits issued in Clark County were down by more than half the number of permits handed out in the same month last year, according to a Thursday report.

The county’s Department of Community Development issued 34 permits to build single-family houses last month, down from 74 permits in June 2010 and 45 permits in June 2009.

Last month’s housing permits totaled approximately $12.8 million in value, a drop from about $19.6 million in June 2010, the development department said.
