• Vancouver native Patrick Hildreth has founded a new design firm, PdhCreative, to provide branding, logo, website and print-design work for medium to large companies in the Vancouver-Portland area. Hildreth came from Tribe2 Studios, another Vancouver design firm.
• Portland-based Wellsource Inc. has appointed Tom Moore of Wilsonville, Ore., as its new general manager and Will Swanson of Battle Ground as its new director of business development, the company said in a news release.
• The four new members of the board of directors at the Children’s Center are Wendy Kelley, Kelly Parker, Tonya Rulli and Darryl Walker. Kelley is a national IRA product manager for U.S. Bank’s Wealth Management group. Parker has served as president and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce since October 2010. Rulli is a senior Clark County deputy prosecuting attorney, and Walker is a labor and employment counsel for the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office. The Children’s Center is a private, nonprofit, state-licensed, community mental health agency founded in 1989 by a group of concerned citizens.
• Dr. Steven D. Hokett has been named a 2012 examiner for the American Board of Periodontology, one of nine specialty boards recognized by the American Dental Association. Hokett, a 1983 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School at San Antonio, is retired from active duty in the Army Dental Corps. He earned a Master of Clinical Research from OHSU School of Medicine in 2009. He is now in private practice in periodontics at Salmon Creek Oral Surgery & Periodontics at 14411 N.E. 20th Ave., Suite 111. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology at the Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry.
• Steven Wood, a 23-year resident of Vancouver, recently earned a chartered financial consultant designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He is a financial professional with the Boston Partners Financial Group LLC, an Andover, Mass.-based financial services firm and a member of the John Hancock Financial Network with a branch office in Vancouver.
• The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce has hired Matt Hoffstetter as a new-membership sales executive. He will work with new members and provide community outreach. Hoffstetter recently retired from the Red Cross after 32 years of service.
• LSW Architects recently added Esther Cho to its team of architects. Cho will provide leadership for LSW’s multi-family and commercial projects. Cho previously worked on the historic renovation of the Camas Public Library.
• The Park Foundation of Clark County board of directors has announced the 2011-12 executive committee. Matthew Bisturis of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt will serve as president. Other members are Henry Gerhard of Real Estate Development Solutions, immediate past president; Todd Stryker of First Pacific Associates, first vice president; Carrie Gaines of Tidewater Barge Lines Inc., second vice president; Dan Clark of Banner Bank, treasurer; and Bryan Cole of Mackay & Sposito, secretary. The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Vancouver and Clark County was established in 1999 to accept and administer donations, gift and bequests for the enrichment and enhancement of the communities’ parks, trails and recreational programs.
• Country Financial donated $1,000 to the First Story organization in honor of Kris Cavin of Camas. Cavin, a financial representative for the Vancouver agency, was honored with Country’s Community Service Award, a distinction created to recognize volunteers who go above and beyond in their volunteer activities.
• Cindy Hiatt, who invented an incontinence recliner cover, recently received a gold medal award in the medical division at the Inpex Inventors’ trade show in Pittsburgh. Hiatt is the mother of a special-needs child. Because she was unable to find a product for incontinence that offered the protection she wanted, she designed a product that is waterproof and easy to clean. * http://www.hiattschairsaver.net.

• Thatcher’s Coffee has been selected to run the Atrium Coffee Corner in the new Vancouver Community Library, East Evergreen Boulevard and C Street. The Coffee Corner will open July 18. Thatcher’s general manager, Jamie Erdman, will manage the shop, which will offer coffee drinks, seasonal pastries and other locally produced food. It will also offer a children’s menu and gluten-free products. Hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
• The CitiFinancial office at 615 S.E. Chkalov Drive in Vancouver is changing its name to OneMain Financial. Mary McDowell is its CEO. To celebrate the new name, the bank will hold a sweepstakes through July with a kick-off celebration at 4 p.m. July 15.
