THIEZAC, France (AP) — The International Cycling Union says Russian cyclist Alexandr Kolobnev has tested positive for a banned substance at the Tour de France.
The UCI says that a urine sample collected during the race on July 6 tested positive for a substance called Hydrochlorothiazide based on tests carried out at the Chatenay-Malabry laboratory.
It is the first positive case at this year’s race.
Kolobnev was in 69th place heading into Tuesday’s 10th stage.
Kolobnev has the right to request a ‘B’ sample.
