SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane County sheriff’s office says the jail exceeded its 650-inmate capacity Monday.
Until the jail population drops, most suspects facing misdemeanor charges such as theft or trespassing won’t be booked.
The sheriff’s office says only those accused of felonies or probation violations and certain crimes says as domestic violence will be locked up.
Holding more than 650 inmates is considered unsafe for the jail population and staff.
