SANDWICH, England (AP) — Ricky Barnes of the United States has earned a last-minute place in the British Open field following the withdrawal of Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts.

Colsaerts withdrew because of an elbow injury hours before he was scheduled to play his first round alongside American J.B. Holmes and South Korea’s Sang-Moon Bae, with more than half the field either finished or out on the course.

Barnes, ranked No. 83, was called up as first reserve.
