EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Transportation Department says the McKenzie Pass Highway will officially open to all traffic at 8 a.m. Friday.
Also known as Oregon Highway 242, the road is closed each fall due to winter snows. It closed for the season last Oct. 25.
The Register-Guard says Friday’s scheduled opening will mark one of the later openings but not the latest, which occurred on July 29, 1999.
The highway will have been closed for 263 days.
The curvy road runs from Western Oregon’s Lane County across the Cascades to the Central Oregon town of Sisters.
