SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane County prosecutor’s office has cleared Spokane police officers who killed a man Nov. 12 when he refused to drop a shotgun he had fired at a home.

The office said Wednesday that officers were justified in shooting 29-year-old Ethan Corporon of Spokane because they had a legitimate concern for their safety and the safety of others.

Corporon had fired six rounds from his shotgun and had threatened to kill people in a house when officers arrived.

Investigators determined six officers fired at him, and he was hit by two shots. Corporon had a history of mental illness.
