BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox return from the All-Star break with the best record in the American League and their horrible start a distant memory.

They lost their first six games after being picked by many to reach the World Series after they added Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford in the offseason. But their 55-29 record since then is the best in the majors and they went into the break with a six-game winning streak.

Gonzalez leads the majors with 77 RBIs and is tied for first with a .354 batting average. Boston’s .278 batting average also is tops in baseball.

But there are concerns. Their top three starters — Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz and Josh Beckett — are battling injuries and Crawford has been a disappointment.
