Crews this month will install a permanent median on Northeast Andresen Road between Northeast Padden Parkway and 88th Street, according to Clark County Public Works.

The median will replace a temporary barrier designed to keep northbound motorists from making a left turn into the Costco store’s parking lot. Waiting vehicles had snarled traffic during peak travel times before installation of the temporary barrier, according to the county.

Crews could start work on the permanent median as soon as this week.

The project is expected to take up to two weeks. Drivers should expect daytime delays; traffic at times will be reduced to a single lane in each direction.

The median project is part of the county’s 2011 transportation safety improvement program. The $615,000 program involves changes to six urban roads and 20 rural roads, mainly new striping and signage. The improvements are paid for through federal grants.
