ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a plane with engine problems overturned when it tried to land in a grass field near Albany, and the pilot has been taken to the hospital.

There was no immediate report on his condition. Tammy Robbins, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson Fire District, says he was from Reno, Nev., and was the only person aboard.

She says the plane flipped after it caught the grass as it tried to set down.

She says the flight began in California and was headed for Salem.
