Capitals re-sign D Alzner to 2-year contract

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Defenseman Karl Alzner has re-signed with the Washington Capitals, agreeing to a $2.57 million, two-year contract.

The 22-year-old Alzner will make $1.3 million next season, and $1.27 in 2012-13.

He played in all 82 games in 2010-11, his first full season in the NHL, with two goals, 10 assists and 24 penalty minutes.

Alzner was the No. 5 overall pick in the first round of the 2007 draft.
