PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — A Umatilla man accused of a shooting more than a year ago in Hermiston is now in custody.

The East Oregonian reports the 25-year-old man, Guadalupe Aviana, was arrested Wednesday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents when he attempted to cross from Mexico at a port of entry south of San Diego.

A fingerprint check showed he was wanted on an attempted murder charge and the FBI considered him a fugitive. He’s accused of shooting a man in the arm in May 2010 in a fight outside a Hermiston convenience store.
