AZALEA, Ore. (AP) — Federal authorities are investigating a fatal plane crash in Douglas County.

The Douglas County sheriff’s office says the Sunday evening crash killed two men from California, both in their 60s.

They were in a lightweight, single-engine plane that left a private airstrip in Azalea, Ore. The plane crashed about 200 yards from the runway, shortly after takeoff.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are sending investigators to the scene.
