PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The family of a 14-year-old Portland girl missing since March has scheduled a July 30 funeral, confident that human remains found on a Portland hill are indeed Yashanee Vaughn.

The Oregon state medical examiner’s office has not yet identified the remains found last Friday on Rocky Butte.

The district attorney’s office has said the discovery resulted from information provided by 16-year-old Parrish Bennette Jr. He has been charged with murder in the girl’s death and is being held without bail pending trial. Police believe the killing occurred March 19.

The Oregonian says the 1 p.m. funeral at City Bible Church will be open to the public.
