OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Police in Olympia, Wash., are investigating what they say is the suspicious death of a newborn baby.

The Olympian reports that police found the dead baby in a home on the city’s west side after a 28-year-old woman was brought by ambulance to Providence St. Peter Hospital, complaining of abdominal bleeding and pain.

A police statement says that hospital staff found evidence that she had recently given birth. Police say the woman did not initially reveal her recent pregnancy.

An investigation was under way Monday afternoon.
