MADRID (AP) — Madrid’s bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics has been endorsed by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).

COE head Alejandro Blanco says the motion to approve Madrid’s third straight try to land the games was unanimous. The Spanish body is preparing to submit the bid to the International Olympic Committee before the Sept. 1 deadline.

Rome, Istanbul and Tokyo also have announced their bids for 2020.

Blanco added that separate bids from Barcelona and Zaragoza-Jaca to host the 2022 Winter Games would receive COE support but were unlikely to advance.
