HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Dynamo have traded defender Mike Chabala and midfielder Lovel Palmer to Portland for midfielder Adam Moffat and allocation money.

Chabala was drafted by Houston in 2006 and played in 69 games for the Dynamo. Palmer started the first 16 games this season.

Moffat, from Scotland, is playing in his fourth full season in Major League Soccer. He played for Columbus when the Crew won the MLS Cup in 2008. In 2010, Moffat set a career high with 23 starts before he was selected by Portland in last year’s expansion draft. Moffat will occupy a domestic slot on the Dynamo roster.
