Georgie’s Angel wins Schuylerville at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Heavily favored Georgie’s Angel took command inside the furlong pole and scored an easy victory in the 93rd running of the $100,000 Schuylerville Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on opening day at Saratoga Race Course.

John Velazquez rode the Todd Pletcher-trained filly, who ran 6 furlongs in 1:10.68 and hit the wire 112 lengths in front of True Feelings.

Georgie’s Angel paid $3.90, $2.90 and $2.20 and earned $60,000 for Sheffer Racing Stable Stocks and Robert W. Wells. True Feelings paid $4.80 and $3.20 and Force de La Nature returned $2.70.

Jackson Bend, ridden by Corey Nakatani for trainer Nick Zito, won the co-featured, $75,000 James Marvin Stakes by 2 12 lengths over Hamazing Destiny. The 4-year-old ran 7 furlongs in 1:20.91 and paid $18.80, $7.10 and $6.10.
