DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Long shot Up In Time caught favorite Mizdirection in the final yards at Del Mar on Sunday to win the $150,000 San Clemente Stakes by 114 lengths, giving jockey Rafael Bejarano three wins including two stakes on the day.

Up In Time covered the Grade 2 mile in 1:34.66, returning $25.40, $9.60 and $6.40. Mizdirection paid $4.20 and $3.60. Celestial Kitten earned $5.

Bejarano also won the $300,000 Eddie Read Stakes aboard Acclamation and was aboard favorite Norvsky in the $100,000 California Dreamin’ Handicap.

In the day’s final race, 5-year-old mare Be Driven was euthanized after she injured her leg and triggered a three-horse collision that sent jockey Victor Espinoza to the hospital with a possible ankle injury. The other horses and riders appeared to be unhurt.
