WESTPORT, Wash. (AP) — Amateur radio operators will help the Washington Emergency Management Division test its emergency communications system July 30 in Westport, at the Maritime Museum.
KBKW reports nearly 20 ham radio operators will use state equipment to contact the state emergency operations center at Camp Murray and the emergency operations centers in all 39 counties.
Ham radio would be a backup if phone and computer networks fail.
