SEATTLE (AP) — The King County Council decided Monday night to delay a vote on a proposed $20 car tab licensing fee that would help avoid cuts in Metro Transit service in the Seattle area.

A vote is now expected at the council’s meeting on Aug. 15. That’s a day before the deadline to put the issue on the November ballot.

KING-TV reports the temporary two-year “congestion reduction charge” for car owners would allow Metro to avoid a 17 percent cut in bus service.
