Nastia Liukin still unsure about 2012

NEW YORK (AP) — Olympic champion Nastia Liukin says she’ll decide by the end of this fall whether she’ll defend her all-around gymnastics gold medal at the 2012 London Games.

At an event Tuesday in Manhattan celebrating a year until the Olympics, the 21-year-old called the choice “a little overwhelming.” From one sentence to the next, she’ll veer from sounding like an athlete ready to retire from elite competition to one determined to go to another games.

Liukin hasn’t been training full time because of her busy travel schedule.

She visited NYU on Tuesday morning, eager to take on future goals such as college but also realizing that going to another Olympics would push everything back only a year.
