ST. LOUIS (AP) — Matt Holliday was in the St. Louis Cardinals’ first starting lineup Tuesday night, then was taken out when the All-Star outfielder became sick.

Manager Tony La Russa said Holliday will sit out the game against the Houston Astros because of a stomach virus.

All-Star Lance Berkman was back in the lineup after sitting out Monday’s 10-5 victory over the Astros with an ailing shoulder. Berkman injured his right shoulder on his final swing Sunday in the Cardinals’ 4-3 loss at Pittsburgh. X-rays taken Monday were negative.

Berkman, who will play right field, has an NL-leading 27 homers and a team-high 69 RBIs.
