HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Manchester United striker Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez was hospitalized overnight after suffering a mild concussion during a workout Tuesday night.
According to a statement released by the English Premier League champions, the 23-year-old Mexican star was injured during a training session for Wednesday’s MLS All-Star game.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was to discuss the injury after Wednesday’s game. Hernandez, who was not expected to play, will not attend the contest, the team said Wednesday.
Hernandez was the last Manchester United player to leave the pitch Tuesday night, walking off with a big smile after he did some extra running with a trainer.
