Pellegrini completes 200-400 double at worlds

SHANGHAI (AP) — Federica Pellegrini of Italy became the first female swimmer to complete the 200-400 freestyle double at consecutive world championships, winning the 200 with a final-lap burst.

Pellegrini finished Wednesday in a time of 1 minute, 55.58 seconds. She moving steadily up from seventh after 50 meters, fifth at the halfway mark, and third after 150 meters.
