CHICAGO (AP) — The Big Ten gathered in Chicago to usher in a new era in one of college football’s most tradition-rich conferences.

The league has a new format, with two divisions and a championship game. It added powerhouse member Nebraska to help draw viewers to its already lucrative television network.

There are plenty of reasons for the Big Ten to celebrate. Meanwhile, Ohio State is dealing with the memorabilia-for-cash and tattoos scandal that cost coach Jim Tressel his job. The school will meet with the NCAA committee on infractions on Aug. 12.
