JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — First-round draft pick Blaine Gabbert, Jacksonville’s quarterback of the future, has signed with the Jaguars.
The 10th overall pick in April’s NFL draft signed a four-year contract worth $12 million. The deal is fully guaranteed and has an option for a fifth year.
Gabbert arrived in the middle of Thursday night’s practice and completed his only pass attempt.
The Jaguars gave up their first- and second-round picks in a trade with the Washington Redskins to move up and acquire the former Missouri standout. Because of the NFL lockout, he likely will spend the year learning behind starter David Garrard.
The Jaguars also signed third-round pick Will Rackley, putting all five rookie draft picks under contract. They signed cornerback Rod Issac, safety Chris Prosinski and receiver Cecil Shorts earlier Thursday.
