Published: July 27, 2011, 12:00am

The second-annual Coop Du Jour day of self-guided chicken coop tours is Saturday. Learn how urban chicken growers raise and house the fowl they love.

Registration is required for the self-guided tour, which swings through the Arnada, Carter Park, Hough, Shumway and Lincoln neighborhoods. The price is $5 per individual or $15 for a flock of four. Tickets include a tour map and wrist passes. The route can be walked, run or biked.

The event is a fund raiser for the Hough Foundation, which assists the neighborhood elementary school with a variety of programs and social service needs.

The tour will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30. Tickets are on sale at various downtown merchants. For more information, call 360-992-7060 or visit http://www.visitvancouverusa.com and click on Event Calendar. Tickets are also available at https://houghfnd.ejoinme.org/?tabid=280234.
