EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A new University of Oregon website offers online access to articles from 18 Oregon newspapers published from 1846 to 1922.

KEZI says the newly launched website called “Historic Oregon Newspapers” allows unprecedented access to original historical texts, all published by Oregon journalists.

Newspapers published on the site include Portland Oregonian, Salem Capital Journal, Sumpter Miner, The Jacksonville Oregon Sentinel, Portland New Age, The New Northwest, and Abigail Scott Duniway’s Suffragist Journal.

Funded by several grants, the website has been in the works for more than two years.
