SEATTLE (AP) — Trisha Conlon’s doesn’t want her teenage boys living with a woman who shot and killed her own daughters in their sleep 20 years ago.
Come Sunday, though, they will be — thanks to a convoluted custody dispute with her ex-husband, retired Marine Lt. Col. John P. Cushing Jr.
Cushing, who lives on Vashon Island south of Seattle, is back together with his first wife, Kristine, who used a handgun in the deaths of their 4- and 8-year-old girls in California’s Orange County in 1991.
Kristine Cushing was found not guilty by reason of insanity, was in a mental institution for four years, monitored for a decade and granted an unconditional release in 2005.
Conlon’s petition to change custody arrangements for her sons was denied. She is appealing.
