FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Marvin Chavez scored in the 26th minute to lead FC Dallas to a 1-0 win over Chivas USA on Sunday night.

Ruben Luna directed a pass to Chavez from the baseline and Chavez fired a right-footed shot from 8 yards away that bounced off Chivas defender Heath Pearce’s leg and into the center of the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Dallas (12-5-6) got its third straight shutout at home.

Chivas (6-8-8) did not even have a shot until the 33rd minute when Blair Gavin pulled an attempt wide right.

Dallas goalie Kevin Hartman finished with two saves including one in the 90th minute after Nick LaBrocca drilled a shot from 20 yards away straight at him. Hartman set the club record for shutouts in a season with 12, breaking Matt Jordan’s mark set in 1999.
