CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko left Sunday’s game with the Boston Red Sox after being hit in the knee with a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Konerko was drilled in the left knee by Boston’s Andrew Miller. He stayed down on the ground for half a minute and then got up and walked around before going to first base as trainer Herm Schneider and manager Ozzie Guillen looked on. But once the inning ended, he was out of the game.
Brent Lillibridge moved from left field to first and Juan Pierre was inserted in left and into Konerko’s third spot in the batting order. Konerko is batting .305 with 25 homers and 76 RBIs.
