PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Two Democratic members of Oregon’s congressional House delegation have voted against a compromise proposal to raise the nation’s debt limit. The measure passed the House 269-161 on Monday, with mostly Republican support.
The no votes came from Reps. Earl Blumenauer and Peter DeFazio. Joining Democrat David Wu in voting yes was fellow Democrat Kurt Schrader.
Facing reports of scandal, Wu has said he’ll resign when a resolution is reached on the debt limit issue. He has not provided an exact timetable.
Oregon’s lone Republican in the U.S. House, Rep. Greg Walden, also voted yes.
