WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) — The Chelan County sheriff’s office says a helicopter has spotted a man overdue on a snowshoe hike near Stevens Pass in Washington’s North Cascades.

Lt. Maria Agnew says Ezra Thompson waved at the copter Thursday and appears to be OK.

He is stranded in a dangerous area at about the 6,700-foot elevation in the Spider Gap area about 25 miles west of Leavenworth.

Agnew says officials are deciding how to rescue him.
